Announcing the 2017 Latino Scholarship Fund Scholarships!
The Latino Scholarship Fund Committee and LEDC are proud to announce that the 11th annual Latino Scholarship Fund awards will be granted to six outstanding Latino undergraduate students in Minnesota for two years of study per winner. Applications will also be made renewable for students wishing to reapply and complete a four-year degree. The amount of the award each year will be for $4,000.
Who is eligible?
Three of the six scholarships will be made available to high school seniors entering college or another post-secondary not-for-profit institution. These scholars will need to have a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, to have shown leadership in the Latino community, to have financial need, and be of Latino origin or have at least one parent born in a Latin American country*.
The three remaining scholarships will be made available to non-traditional students, a category which encompasses all students who did not attend college the semester that immediately followed their high school graduation or students who did not complete high school, but completed a GED, HiSET, or other alternative diploma. For this group, there is no GPA requirement to apply, but in order to receive the second year of scholarship funding, they must maintain a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale during their post-secondary education. These students must also have shown leadership in the Latino community, have financial need, and be of Latino origin or have at least one parent born in a Latin American country*.
For both scholarship categories, winners must renew their application before the second year of funds are dispersed. Preference will be given to those ineligible for local or federal government funds for college.
When can I apply?
Applications and letters of recommendation are due via email (to firstname.lastname@example.org) or postmarked to LEDC’s Minneapolis office by March 31, 2017, and applications will be released on January 30, 2017 on the following web page: http://ledc-mn.org/index.php/latino-scholarship-fund/
How do I know that my application has been received?
